Frequently Asked Questions

It is an online directory of Mauritian companies developed by the Economic Development Board to showcase Mauritian exporters of goods and services to the world, while providing a comprehensive set of information on the trade conditions that regulate the export of Mauritian goods and services to countries where Maurtius benefits from preferential market access.

The objective of the e-Export Directory is threefold :

  1. To enable Mauritian exporters to present their companies and their goods and services and to know the level of trade preference they can benefit on each market, so as to assess their export opportunities
  2. To provide international buyers with all the required information to source their goods and services from Mauritian suppliers, including the trade conditions as well as the assurance that Mauritius is a sustainable sourcing destination of quality products and services with the SDGs that are met at national level and the various voluntary quality standards to which Mauritian companies are certified to.
  3. To provide a business match-making facility by enabling global buyers to register on the e-Export Directory with helpful product and service information, so that EDB can identify the appropriate Mauritian suppliers.

There are two ways to check for customs tariffs:

Option 1:

On the homepage, move your cursor on the  “Market Access Conditions” tab and click on “Export of Goods”. A search page for “Export of Goods” will open. Enter the product name or the HS code (either first 2 digits, or 4 digits or 6 digits). Then choose the country of destination and click on “Search”.

Option 2:

On the homepage, choose Goods under “Goods/Services”, choose a “Category” and choose a “Subcategory”, where there is one. Then click on “Search”. A list of suppliers will appear. Click on a company name to see its profile. On the company profile page, click on a product picture. The product name, description and 6-digit HS code will appear. Click on the HS Code. The search page for “Export of Goods” will open with the 6-digit HS code already entered. Then enter a country of destination and click on “Search”.

Mode 2 or "Consumption Abroad" occurs when Mauritian consumers move abroad to consume services there. In that case, the company supplying the service is the foreign company. The objective of the e-export Directory is to promote Mauritian companies. The focus therefore is to show the trade preference offered to Mauritian companies when providing services in foreign countries, to foreign consumers.
